MY JOURNEY AS NINJABELLE…

I was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. I am first generation Mexican-American and first generation college graduate. Raised in an immigrant family, I knew not to take for granted the opportunities and privilege I had as a US citizen. Some of my best childhood memories were from family movie nights. I loved immersing myself in the story and being able to escape reality, even for just a moment. Once I started college, it became clear that storytelling was my destiny. While taking a film course at Santa Monica Community College, I was recruited as an intern by documentary filmmaker and visual effects artist Michael Angelo to work on the documentary film "A DocumenTree".

Michael Angelo taught me how to build a feature film pipeline, produce, edit, visual effects and the exploratory research necessary for documentary storytelling. At 18 years old, I learned how to organize shoots, train new interns and operate softwares such as Final Cut Pro and Photoshop. In the last 7 years, I’ve worked in an official capacity as production coordinator, assistant editor, researcher, production pipeline manager, staff orientation trainer, Spanish translator and social media marketing manager. My production nickname in "A DocumenTree" is "Ninjabelle" because I anticipate tasks and complete them before asked. In 2020, right before the pandemic hit, I line produced principle photography interviews with the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority, Chrysalis, SHARE! Collaborative Housing and more.

After Santa Monica Community College, I transferred to Cal State University Northridge and was accepted into the Department of Cinema and Television Arts. I was a producer for my senior thesis film “I WILL BECOME ME and I graduated with a B.A. degree in Film Production with an emphasis in Editing during the pandemic. Since graduating, I was a part of the social media outreach team for the documentary film "A Decent Home" by director Sara Terry. I conducted outreach research for her photography grant, the Aftermath Project. Most recently, I’ve filmed, produced and edited interviews with Treeman from “ADocumenTree” for post production.
